KKR to Invest up to Rs 300 Crore in Baby Memorial Hospital in Kerala

The New York based private equity firm KKR & Co has planned to make an investment of Rs. 200 Cr to 300 Cr in Kerala based Baby Memorial Hospital. An agreement will be signed in accordance with the investment. The hospital is expected to use the receive funds to settle some of their debts and concentrate on expanding the facilities.

Baby Memorial Hospital is founded in 1987, considered as one of the premium health care centres in Northern Kerala.  The hospital was started with only 52 beds and grown up as one of the top hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala. BMH is facilitated with more than 40 Medical and Surgical Departments, 16 world-class Operation Theatres, 11 ultra modern ICUs, 24 Hours accident and trauma care unit now.  Moreover, BMH team expands to 300 doctors and 2000 plus nursing, paramedical and administrative staffs.

BMH received accolades from all around the world for the battle lead to control the spread of Nipah virus in Kerala that killed 15 in the state.  Dr Shaji Thomas John, Chief & Senior Consultant – Dept of Pediatrics received Government of Kerala Best Doctor award.

KKR declined to comment on the deal with BMH. Also, BMH Chairman and Managing Director said, he would not like to comment at this point in time.
