Malabar Cancer Centre is an autonomous institution under the health and family welfare department is located in Kannur district, Kerala, started with an intention to set up a thorough malignant growth focus, giving the much-required oncology care to the number of inhabitants in Northern area of Kerala and neighboring parts of Karnataka and Tamilnadu states. The main objective of the center is not only to provide complete cancer care but also create as a Research and Training Center of International standards. MCC started from March 2001 onwards. Now, MCC has around 110 inpatient bed strength which is expected to be increased to 220 in the future. The routine activities and functions of the Center are directed by the Executive Committee, with the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala being the Chairperson of the Committee. Patients are sorted by their economic status, and as needs are it is normal that 20% of patients will be free service and about 60% on concessional rates. It has been embraced that no patients will be denied treatment for financial reasons. Amid the last fifteen years period, a total of 26,781 new cancer patients had registered for different modalities of cancer treatment and around 3,91,893 patient visits made during this period. Presently, MCC include radiotherapy, chemotherapy, onco surgery, and palliative care.
